Peanut Brittle Bread Pudding

2 c soft bread cubes
1/2 c coarsely broken peanut brittle
1/2 c semisweet chocolate chips
1 egg
1/2 c milk
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/4 c margarine, melted
1 c whipping cream
1/4 c chocolate-flavored syrup

Preheat oven to 350º.
Grease 1-quart casserole. Place half of the bread cubes in casserole. Sprinkle with half the peanut brittle and half the chocolate chips. Repeat with remaining bread, brittle, and chips. Beat egg in small bowl. Stir in milk, brown sugar and margarine; pour over bread mixture. Bake 30 minutes or until center is set. Beat whipping cream and syrup in chilled small bowl until soft peaks form. Serve with warm pudding and sprinkle with crushed peanut brittle, if desired.
Makes 6 servings.
