Casserole For A Cold Night

1 lb lean ground beef
7 1/2 oz can tomato sauce
1 garlic clove, minced
salt and pepper to taste
2 tsp sugar
14 oz can tomatoes
3 c broad egg noodles, cooked and drain
4 oz light cream cheese, cubed
1 c 7% sour cream
6 green onions, chopped
1 1/2 c grated light Cheddar cheese

Brown meat and drain. Add tomato sauce, garlic, salt, pepper, sugar and tomatoes. Cover and simmer over low heat for 45 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°. Combine hot noodles with cubed cream cheese. Stir to melt cheese. Add sour cream and green onions. In a greased 3 qt baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodle mixture and cheddar cheese alternately. Bake, uncovered, for 30 minutes.
